VSR is a very vital and utmost useful technique to relieve the residual stress in a component which is an extremely efficient way of saving the component from destruction due to distortion resulting from residual stress. VSR helps in maintaining a perfect dimensional stability to ensure that the component does not experience the stress due to poor equilibrium problems.

VSR is widely used technique for relieving residual stresses to achieve dimensional stability of the job and enhancing life of the components. The various areas of application of VSR Include:

 

  • Stress reduction after welding, casting, forging and machining operation
  • Can be applied on Mild Steel, Stainless steel, carbon steel, alluminium and many other alloy steels
  • Avoidance of stress corrosion cracking through reduction of surface tensile stress.
  • Overall Stress reduction.

 

It really gets difficult to display the instant effect of VSR technique because it is not feasible to calculate the residual stress in a component unless some source of destructive test is put into application. With this, it is also difficult to obtain total stress reduction by making use of any commercial process. The improvement in the dimensional stability of a work piece is comparatively an easy way to demonstrate the success of VSR is and this way has proven its applicability with positive results.
